Seminar “Perspectives on development of democratic society in Bosnia and Herzegovina”

Seminar

The seminar “Perspectives on development of democratic society in Bosnia and Herzegovina” was held on Jahorina from November 23rd until Novermber 25th 2007. The participants of the seminar represented different partner organizations and universities from Sarajevo, Mostar, Zenica, Bratunac, Srebrenica and Doboj.

The topics of the seminar were presented in the form of workshops and interactive work. The topics included:

  • Democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Mass media – contribution to the development of democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Civil Bosnia and Herzegovina and perspectives – the key for truth and reconciliation between nations
  • Status of the minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina – equal or different?!
  • The needs of youth – does our community satisfy the needs of youth?
  • Advantages and disadvantages of democratic society
  • Communication and language of hatred in media
  • Moral norms and democracy

The trainers on the seminar were Mr. Lejla Turčilo, Prof. Muamer Muratović and Prof. Emir Poljak.

At the end of the seminar the participants evaluated the trainers, topics they covered and the organization of the seminar, through an evaluation paper. Altogether, the participants were very pleased with all aspects of the seminar and they concluded that these aspects of education contribute to the improvement in cooperation among the participants themselves and also to a better understanding of the society in Bosnia and Herzegovina in general.

After the evaluation, participants were given certificates from the organisers of the seminar,dvv international Office in Sarajevo.

Successfully realized Training for AUTOCAD programe

In cooperation with dvv international – Office in Sarajevo, the Construction and geodetics school in Sarajevo has finished the training of the participants on the AUTOCAD program. Engineers Mesinović Munira and Zuhrić Edin worked with the participants of the training. After the training and testing participants were given certificates from dvv international – Office in Sarajevo and certificates on additional education from Construction and geodetics school in Sarajevo on 15.11.2007.

Round table in the frame of the project

In frame of Lifelong learning festival in BiH 2007, round table was held on 01.11.2007 in the rooms of Amica Educa in Tuzla. The topic of the round table was: «Lifelong education and learning as precondition to successful transition towards society and economy based on knowledge».

Conclusions of the round table:

1. It is necessary that the state brings the law on adult education and acts of law which would regulate following:

a. constitution and work of organizations for adult education,

b. funding of adult education,

c. administration and supervision over the organizations for vocational education and training,

d. constitution and work of the Agency for evaluation and standards

2. It is necessary to alleviate to the citizens the access to organizations and institutions which are involved in adult education

3. It is necessary to adjust the organization of instruction/education, educational programs and methods to the needs of adults

4. It is necessary to develop and verify non-formal education in the form of courses

5. It is necessary to create conditions and capacities for high quality prequalification and continuous modernization and to update the knowledge

6. It is necessary to adjust the educational system in general and sector for education and adult education to globalization processes of economical, working and educational space

7. It is necessary to improve the skills and knowledge of NGOs and to involve them in the process of preparation, acquisition and implementation of the law

It is also necessary to establish permanent cooperation between ministries, pedagogic institutes and NGOs who are involved in the area of adult education in order to develop the program for alternative and further education which would be certificated and adequately recognized.

Training of Trainers for the Educational Work with Adults in BiH

The first seminar in frame of «Training of the staff for the work in adult education», cycle 2007/2008 was held from 25.10.2007 till 27.10.2007.

There were 30 participants on the seminar who represented workers universities, occupational schools, cultural centers and NGOs.

In the form of interactive lectures and workshops following topics were covered on the first seminar:

  • Lifelong learning as precondition to successful transition towards society and economy based on knowledge
  • Control over the changes (reforms) in adult education
  • Strategic management in adult education (example of educational institution)
  • Development of management skills (management and leadership skills – similarity and differences)
  • Skill of controlling the working efficiency of those employees in adult education
  • Concept and theory of educational needs and their implication in practical educational-instructional work with adults
  • Models and instruments for examination of educational needs – individual needs
  • Models and instruments of educational needs – needs of labor market, needs of employers
  • Instruments for examination of educational needs – needs of labor market, needs of employers

Trainers during the seminar were: Prof. Dr Šefika Alibabić and Doc. Dr. Aleksandra Pejatović from Faculty of Phylosophy, Belgrade, Prof. Narcis Hošo, staff associate in the Bosnian cultural centre, Sarajevo and Prof. Emir Avdagić, director of dvv international – Office in Sarajevo.

 

 

Project «Training for AUTOCAD programme», Construction and geodetics school in Sarajevo

Training for AUTOCAD Programe

In cooperation with dvv international – Office in Sarajevo, the Construction and geodetics school in Sarajevo has started with the realization of the project «Vocational qualification through training for AUTOCAD programme». Training has started on 15.10.2007, and it will include 60 lessons in period of one month. With the support of dvv international – Office in Sarajevo, authorization of AUTOCAD programme packet was accomplished and this partner organization became the first technical school in Bosnia and Herzegovina with authoritized AUTOCAD programme packet. Training includes 30 participants who are trained by Engineers Mesinović Munira and Zuhrić Edin. Training should contribue to further education of the participants in new technologies in order to achive their economical stability, competence on the labour market and faster employment. After the training and testing of participants, they will be given certificates from dvv international – Office in Sarajevo and certificates on training completion from Construction and geodetics school in Sarajevo.

 

 

 

Project “Support to employment in tourism area”, Women` s union “Priroda”

Support to Employment in the Area of Tourism

Main aim of the project:

To contribute to faster and easier employment and by that to acquire benefit in tourism area through educational programmes.

First aim of the project:

To organize and to hold a seminar, on which the hostesses will be trained for the work on the fair.

Second aim of the project:

To organize and to hold a seminar, on which people will be trained for provision for touristic services in domestic housework.

During the period of March, April and May of 2007 we have made a group of 16 people for the project “Training for the tourism development” based on the meetings we held and discussions we made with the local administration, touristic office, employment office, organization committee of the “Dani maline” (Days of raspberry) fair, and local tradesman. Group of 16 participants was made out of 8 hostesses and 8 people who will be trained for provision for touristic services in domestic housework. Seminar was held in period from 25.05.2007 till 03.06.2007. All 16 participants participated on 64 educational lessons. Trainers during the seminar were: dr. tourist expert Snežana Štetić, dipl. ecc. Slavka Nedeljković, and dipl. tourist expert Nenad Petrović. After the seminar, all 8 hostesses were employed on the fair of agriculture and tourism “Dani maline” (Days of raspberry) which was held in Bratunac from 29.06.2007 till 01.07.2007. During the fair, Women`s union “Priroda” was given a degree for contribution to the tourism and education promotion.

Within project activities, one-day touristic trip was organized on 08.09.2007. During the trip, participants of the seminar have visited interesting touristic destinations of Doboj community and wider. We have to mention the cooperation with NGO MAK “MOST” from Doboj and tourist informational service “Ozren”. “Priroda” has made a direct cooperation with CARITAS-Schwe from Goražde which wanted to start with similar activities that “Priroda” does.

Round table was planed for 19.10.2007. The participants will talk about importance of tourism development with an aim of faster and easier employment. All people who are adequate for these issues will be called to take part in the Round table. Radio broadcast will be organized to.

Lifelong Learning Festival 2007

Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association – dvv international – Office in Sarajevo and partner organization “Amica Educa” Tuzla are organizing “Lifelong learning festival” in BiH this year too.

“Lifelong learning festival” project goals:
  • To influence on system improvement of practical training of youth in formal and non-formal education
  • To associate individual level and forms of education (formal, non-formal and informal)
  • To influence on awareness development about lifelong learning and especially about establishing the adult education system in BiH
  • To inform broad publicity about the importance of lifelong learning, about project activities, and to influence on awareness development about the need of active actions with a goal of initiating changes in firm and broad environment
  • To assure preconditions to citizens so they can take the initiative and responsibility for personal and social development
  • In frame of this year festival, whose activities are in progress, we will realize:
  • Educational workshops “Communication and empathy skills” for final years students of Social science universities
  • Two trainings “Writing projects skills”, in whose frame youth will be able to overmaster the writing projects skills
  • Creation and realization public advocacy about lifelong learning in BiH and promotion of lifelong learning festival 2007
  • Ensuring the information of trends in sphere of adult education in EU
  • Promotion of adult education in BiH in frame of European association network for adult education, (EAEA)
  • Contribution to development strategy of lifelong learning in BiH
  • Active employment and representation of interests of BiH in the EAEA network frame
  • Alignment of European trends of adult education with the needs of local union and State

Public debate “Lifelong learning as a assumption of successful transition towards society and economy based on knowledge” is a central activity of “Lifelong festival in BiH 2007”. Public debate will be held on November the 1st in the rooms of “Amica Educa” Tuzla. Prof. dr. Džemo Tufekčić, prof. dr. Nada Mladina, prof. Narcis Hošo, and doc.dr. Mirzeta Hodžić-Suljkić are the lecturers who will open the debate and the moderator of the debate will be Mrs. Klelija Balta.

 

 

Project “Education of people from agriculture section”, Women Association “Sara”

Education of Individuals from the Agriculture Sector

Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Association – dvv international – Office in Sarajevo and Women association “Sara”, Srebrenica, is realizing the project “Education of people from agriculture section” for unemployed people. Two groups of 15 people are formed and each group will go through the cycle of six workshops. The aims of the project would be creation of the conditions for employment and self-employment for the participants in the agriculture section accompanied by recent methods of work, taking care of the climate and the proper land for breeding different agricultures. Educational part of the project is accompanied by the video presentations. The brochure “Jagodaste voćke” (Strawberry fruit) was made in the frame of “Education of people from agriculture section” project. First cycle of six workshops is completed. Two workshops from the first cycle were maintained on the plantations accompanied with the practical work which was estimated within the project plan. Second cycle is in progress. By the end of the project participants will be given certificates and the possibility of cooperating with the agricultural union with the aims of employing participants and making partnerships.

 

 

 

Development Strategy of Adult Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Development Strategy of Adult Education in BiH

On initiative of Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, public dissertation and conclusion of the document “Strategic directions for the development of adult education in Bosnia and Herzegovina“, will be organized in October and November 2007, which is one of the priorities of European partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Assosiation (dvv international) and OSCE, Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, have accomplished the first preposition for the strategic document whose draft was entierly financed by dvv international, Office in Sarajevo.

Expert team consisting of seven members was formed and named. These are the representatives:

Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federal Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Education and Culture of Republic of Srpska, Department for Education of Distict Brčko, Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Assosiation (dvv international) and OSCE.

By the conclucion of the strategy document, it will be delivered to the Council of Ministries of Bosnia and Herzegovina for adoption which was planed for December 2007. This will be a very important step in the regulation process of adult education in Bosnia and Herzegovina which is the forth column of education.

 

 

 

Seminar "Protection of human rights - the receipt for life in democratic society in Bosnia and Herzegovina"

From 19. to 21. July 2007, a seminar took place at Bjelašnica, under the name of «Democracy – Progression or Stagnation».

At the seminar the following topics were elaborated in the form of workshops:

  • Gender-awareness in BH society – acceptance or rejection
  • Status of minority groups in BH - equal or different?
  • Achievement of Government institutions in respect of human rightsat the state and entity level
  • Mass media- its achievements in respect of development ofdemocracy in BH
  • How to build democratic society
  • Civil society in BH and its perspective - the key for truth and peace among people
  • Moral norms and democracy

  • Planning and Programming in education
  • Development of modular programs for vocational further education snd adult education

The professors on this seminar were Prof. Dr. Šefika Alibabić and Doc. Dr. Aleksandra Pejatović from the Philosophy faculty of Belgrad and Doc. Dr. Mirjana Mavrak from the Philosophy faculty of Sarajevo.

 

 

 

 

Seminar – History Project

19–22 April 2007, Sarajevo

History project

The focus of the training was the interdisciplinary approach of teaching and learning for creating integral learning and teaching process. The training gathered history teachers on a regional level that discussed and developed ideas for a better use of ICT in the history classes. A further step of the training was to create a space for networking among the teachers who exchanged ideas, lessons and information and planed how to cooperate for the future.

The practicing history teachers who took part were from Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia.

The training also provided space for the first steps of creating a Virtual Archive of Socialism to serve both teachers and students in the region.

Visit of the Students of the Philosophy faculty in Sarajevo

The students of the absolvent class of the Philosophy faculty of Sarajevo, Pedagogy department, visit the Institute for International Cooperation Of The German Adult Education Association (dvv international) Office in Sarajevo, whereby they get introduced into the work of the institute. In addition, the students receive the information about the present status of adult education in the region of Bosnia and Herzegovina and South-East Europe. This is a good opportunity for the students to get acquainted with the terms of "Adult Education" and " Lifelong learning".

The visit this year took place on March 26, in the Bosnian Culture Center (BCC).

The lecture about issues in adult education were delivered by Mr. Emir Avdagić, the director of the dvv internationalin Sarajevo, Mr. Abdurahman Čolić, director of the BCC as well as by Mr. Narcis Hošo, adult education department of BCC.
