Training of blind and partially blind persons - Program "Literacy Braille Alphabet"

1. March - 15 June 2013 - A good number of blind people due to various reasons have not managed to attend the proper schooling at the blind school. Due to the lack of informative assisting technology, mainly because of the lack of means, such as audio software, displays in Braille alphabet, and very limited access to information for blind people which is a great obstacle in their independence in life.

Of course due to the vision disability, the blind cannot perform all kinds of work. In order to provide these persons better access to information, social integration and better chances in the labor market, dvv-international - office in Kosova, has contracted the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired People of Kosova- ABVIPK to identify and train about 64 blind persons from 8 Kosova regions that could not read or write in Braille alphabet. Three months trainings were organized in: Prishtina, Gjilan, Ferizaj, Peja, Prizren, Gjakova, Mitrovica and Malisheva.

Once capable of reading and writing in Braille these persons will have access to the literature printed in Braille as well as in using Informatics Technology for the blind such as: Braille displays, easy link. pronto etc.

These persons will be better prepared for the labor market in particular the persons that lost their vision in adulthood. in this project at least 64 blind people will acquire basic skills in reading and writing in Braille.
