Jubilee conference, 10 anniversary of DVV International in Kosovo

10.03.2015-On 10 March 2015 at the "Sirius" Hotel in Prishtina, DVV International held the jubilee conference for the 10th anniversary of its engagement in Kosovo. Considering the very good cooperation during the past 10 years with the main actors of education in Kosovo and the continuous contribution DVV International office in providing in developing adult education and informal education in Kosovo, representatives of state education institutes, local and international NGOs, representatives of international donating organizations and representative of private education providers in Kosovo were invited to this conference. 

In total 102 persons participated in this conference including Mr Arsim Bajrami - Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Ms. Rita Hajzeri - Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Ms. Angelika Viets - German Ambassador in Kosovo, Dr. Anton Markmiller - Director of DVV International and Ms. Thekla Kelbert - Representative of DVV International for the region of South Eastern Europe.

During his speech, Mr. Arsim Bajrami, thanked DVV International in Kosovo for their contribution in developing adult education, and expressed his readiness for mutual cooperation in achieving common goals of advancing adult education and the integration of adult groups that abandoned the regular education system in Kosovo.

Ms. Angelika Viets, during her speech stated that "the provision of a quality education for adults shall contribute in establishing a society of lifelong learning, which will improve human lives and increase further the economic development in the Republic of Kosovo. The connection between informal and formal education in Kosovo must be strengthened and is one of the most important needs of education institutions to open their doors in order to improve equal opportunities for many people outside the formal education system in Kosovo.

The current achievements and the needs for the further development of adult education in Kosovo were also presented during the Conference by Mr. Ramadan Alija - Head of DVV International Office in Kosovo, Mr. Demë Hoti –Prof. dr. – Faculty of Education, Ms. Radica Berishaj – Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ms. Filloreta Kuqi – Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sport, Mr. Gani Sejdiu - Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, Mr. Pertrit Tahiri – Kosovo Education Center, Mr. Bujar Kadriu Kosovo Association of the Blind, etc.

After the conclusion of this Conference a meeting of 15 representatives of state institutions and NGOs was organized as well, where further steps and the next three year plan of DVV International in Kosovo were discussed.
