Research - Adult education and training in vocational schools in Kosovo 2010-2015

March - July 2015-Considering that since 2010 reforms have been conducted in all fields of education in Kosovo accompanied with changes in educational policies and practices of fulfilling programs in vocational schools, DVV International in cooperation with the Kosovo Pedagogic Institute is conducting a research "Adult education and training in vocational schools in Kosovo 2010-2015".

There are 58 Vocational Schools, and 3 Competency Centers in Kosovo, out of which 37 Vocational High Schools provide education for adults over the age of 15 according to short term programs (one school year is completed in six months). These education programs are provided to persons who have abandoned regular education due to various reasons.

Considering the need to reform this field of education throughout vocational schools in Kosovo it has been deemed necessary to conduct a field research to identify the needs for changes and further development of adult education in vocational schools in Kosovo.  The used research methodology is field research, analyses of documents, analyses of statistics, survey techniques and interviews.

The persons included in the project are representatives of relevant institutions that are engaged in the adult vocational education sector and vocational high schools in seven regions of Kosovo: Prishtina, Peja, Gjakova, Gjilan, Prizren, Mitrovica and Ferizaj. For the research sample each region shall be represented by two vocational schools, including the competency centers that operate in respective areas.

The conducting of this research has been financed by two partners DVV International and IPK, whereas the final report shall be published by 15 July 2015. This Research is considered to be very important for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Kosovo and shall serve as the guideline to draft the Education Strategy 2017-2022, which shall also integrate adult education in vocational schools in Kosovo.
