Training teachers of humanities in secondary education

Prishtina, 22.9.2009. The project "Training of humanitarian science teachers of secondary education and senior officials of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for intercultural field of education" implemented by the Kosovo Education Center has begun to be implemented in July 2009 and completed in month September 2009.

The main goals of the project have been:

  • Increasing awareness of the role and importance of intercultural education
  • Develop spirit of belonging, mutual respect between different ethnic communities and the development of individual feelings and tolerance for diversity among students of senior secondary education
  • Promote local community in joint cultural activities
  • Creation of new skills to develop intercultural content in regular classes, differentiated educational work in cultural activity and non-formal education

Project Objectives

  • Increasing the degree of awareness of teachers of senior secondary education and the officials of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for the role and importance of intercultural education in postmodern and global time
  • Strengthening and increasing intercultural education competencies for teachers of science humanitarian intercultural education development with higher education students of secondary. C. Beneficiaries of the project:

Beneficiaries

Project beneficiaries were 22 teachers. Indirect beneficiaries will be middle school students. Also direct beneficiary will be Kosovar society, because intercultural education will promote interethnic reconciliation and active-positive peace building.
